The method
1
Date, time and place of birth. We recompute true solar time for your location: that is what gives the Ascendant, the houses and the Hour pillar.
2
Positions come from the VSOP87 ephemerides and a high-precision lunar model. On the Chinese side, the 干支 cycle is computed from the solar terms.
3
Your positions are laid out, then decoded or interpreted depending on the edition. You get a paginated A4 PDF, with the full calculation notes.
Let us be clear
BaZi is not a fad. It is a Chinese calendrical system more than a thousand years old, still used today to make decisions, including in business. Here is why we take it seriously.
BaZi rests on the 干支 cycle, used to count days since the oracle bones of the Shang dynasty. Three thousand years of continuous use. The twenty-four solar terms 节气 that pace it are astronomy: the Sun's real position on the ecliptic.
In Hong Kong, Taipei and Singapore, companies regularly consult a practitioner before opening a store, choosing a brand name or signing a contract. It sits next to the numbers, not instead of them.
BaZi cannot be proved in a laboratory, and we will not pretend otherwise. It is a symbolic system, like Western astrology: serious in method, but without scientific proof. It gives you a vocabulary for describing yourself and a calendar for choosing your moment. It is not a proof, it is a tool.
We will not tell you what is going to happen. We sell no luck, no protection, no shortcut. We light up what you are already living, and the decision stays yours. It is the only promise we can keep. It is enough for us.
The Chinese calendar does not predict the future: it gives the present moment a name. That is how we use it, and how we invite you to read it.
Sample pages
Every technical datum is followed by a golden line in italics: its translation into plain English. You can always skip the figure and read the translation.
Our position
We do not say the East is right and the West wrong. The two systems light up different things: character on one side, balance on the other. They correct each other.
Every trait comes with its good side and its hard side. A reading that only flatters helps no one.
Ephemerides, longitudes, angles. No approximate “sign of the day”, no position invented to round off a sentence.
Every word is explained, and you can redo the calculations yourself. Check every claim, reread your chart years later.
Questions
For the Ascendant, the twelve houses and the Hour pillar, yes — half an hour of difference can change the Ascendant. If you do not know it, say so: the chart is then drawn without the houses, and the book says so instead of filling the gap with a guess.
Because they do not do the same job. The free edition gives you the facts and the keys to read them: it is a learning companion, and it is yours forever. The subscription does the reading work for you — it weaves your portrait, connects the two traditions, and writes to you every morning. It is the difference between a score and someone who comes to play it for you.
In the free edition, no: the translations come from a knowledge base written and checked by hand, and nothing is generated at the moment of the run — hence an instant, perfectly reproducible result. In the subscription, yes: the reading is written by a language model, guided by the exact positions of your chart and by that same base. It draws nothing at random, and you can check every statement in the facts printed alongside. We would rather say it plainly than keep it vague.
No. It is an exact astronomical calculation, read through a symbolic system — just as a score can be read as a story without the score ceasing to be music. What the reading is worth, only you can say.
At 7 am in your time zone, by default. You can choose another time, pause the sends while you are away, or switch to a weekly rhythm — without losing access to your books.
Yes, in one click, at any time. Sends stop at the end of the paid period, and the books you have already received remain yours: you can download and reprint them whenever you like.
Yes. The subscription gives access to all three books in full — Sous le ciel, Sous les astres de Chine and Occident & Chine — in their edition with interpretation, plus the daily email. You can regenerate your books at any time if your details change.
It is used only to draw your chart and calculate your daily reading; it is kept encrypted for as long as your account exists, and deleted when you cancel. No birth data is used to train a model.
Yes: the books are A4, in deep black and white on a night background, with a layout designed to stay readable in print as well as on screen.
